and Dr. Katie Kinney, University of North Alabama kckinney@una.edu

The purpose of this model classroom is to teach students to use information that is presented in both visual and numerical format. The objectives for this session are that students will recognize visual information and interpret it, that students will relate visual information to numerical information, and that students will create their own infographic to illustrate their understanding of the relationship between a visual image and a set of data. The combination of the data and images will help students develop the higher order thinking skills of analysis and creativity. Students will develop digital-age literacy, communication skills, real-world application of data, and inventive thinking as a result of this lesson.
